Outlook might crash if MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 and Outlook Business Contact Manager are installed on the same machine

After installing the Dynamics CRM Outlook client on a workstation with Outlook 2007 on it, Outlook crashed while starting. It actually crashed while it was loading the Add-Ins. Starting Outlook in save-mode failed either.

Before it crashed it made an entry to the event log with the following message:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3082 – Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A035FC0) (80131506)

The problem was caused by a the fact that I was running the BCM and the CRM add-in. A reason for the .NET Framework runtime exception can be found here on the CRM Teamblog. A hotfix that issues the problem, regarding to KB963676, can be downloaded from MS Connect .

Calendars disappears in Dynamics CRM when Outlook client is installed

Today I experienced something, in the first place, strange happening to my personal CRM website.

After I installed my CRM Outlook client the link to my calendar disappeared from the CRM server website. I noticed that the calendar is still visible to those people who don’t have the Outlook integration.

Actually, the reason for this behavior is based on the Outlook integration. If you are using the Outlook  you want to use the Outlook calendar to add new appointments.

The CRM integration is quite clever here and hides the calendar while your Outlook is connected to the CRM Server. If you close Outlook or disconnect the CRM integration client from the CRM server, your calendar will be visible on your website again.
